I was born and raised in Hays, Kansas. I attended and graduated from Thomas More Prep in Hays in 1972. I also attended and graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1976 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation and returned to Fort Hays the following year to complete my Master’s Degree in Education Administration.
After finishing my Master’s degree and a graduate teaching assistantship at Fort Hays, I accepted my first teaching position at Sabetha, Kansas teaching Elementary Physical Education and coaching football and basketball at the high school level as well as track at the middle school. In 1987, I entered the field of Administration as a building principal at Roosevelt Sixth Grade School in Wellington, Kansas where I remained until 1994. I then returned to Sabetha in 1994 and became the Middle School principal, a position I currently hold.
