Biography

by Debra Garber

October 17, 2008

Debra Garber My life began in the land of tumble weeds and wind, a place where most people speed by to Colorado, a place where a school field trip could take at least three days, a place where you can see forever; if there was something to see, my hometown, Goodland, Kansas. I attended Marymount College in Salina, Kansas, where I graduated with a degree in Theatre, Speech, English and Psychology. I moved to Sabetha, Kansas after I accepted a teaching position of 7th grade Language Arts, and high school Speech and Drama; along with teaching responsibilities I coach forensics and direct the high school musical and play. In 2006, I moved to eighth grade Language Arts. In 2007, I received my Master of Arts in Education degree from Baker University. I married a Sabetha native, Doug Garber, in 2004. We reside four miles outside of town with our two children. In the past 18 years, I have had the extreme pleasure of teaching, coaching and directing the students of Sabetha; and coming to know, understand and love this community as my own.
