6th Grade Science: Life Science
Life Science is a lab based course. Students will be required to learn and perform the Scientific Method to solve scientific questions. We will cover topics such as DNA, frog dissection, worm dissection, cell production and division, Egyptian body preservation, Egyptian food preservation, and numerous others. Students will participate in multiple projects and labs throughout the year. The grades will be calculated by points throughout the nine weeks.
7th Grade Science: Earth Science
Earth Science is a more abstract science due to the nature of the subject. Most earth processes are those we cannot see until the effects occur. Therefore, describing to the students a term they cannot see becomes much more abstract. Topics we cover in Earth Science are volcanoes, earthquakes, the Solar System, weather and clouds, wind patterns and several others. Students will also review the Scientific Method through labs. In edition, students will create a conservation poster and theme for the county contest. Grades are calculated by points.
