Susan Leiker

2nd Grade

I was born and raised in a small town in central Kansas, Hoisington.. I graduated from High School in 1977. I attended Barton County Community college for 2 years and finished my Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education at Fort Hays State University. While there, I majored in Elementary Education with an emphasis in music. I also was a member of the Fort Hays State University Track Team.

I am married to Doug, who also teaches in our distric at SHS (woodworking and drafting). Doug and I have been teaching in this district since 1981 and have raised two daughters, Greta and Hillary. We have felt very fortunate to be able to share in their educational dreams.

I was honored with a professional award in 2002 as a nominee for Kansas Teacher of the Year and am currently listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, 2006. I enjoy teaching my "kiddos" and my desire for them is to have a "love of learning." It is a joy to have taught in a district long enough that my students are now young adults, and have become my friends.
