Jessica Ploeger

1st Grade

by Jessica Ploeger

Hello, my name is Jessica Ploeger. I will be teaching first grade this year. I grew up on a farm outside of Sabetha and attended school there through high school. In 2005, I graduated from Sabetha High School. That fall I began studying elementary education at Kansas State University. While at KSU, I lived in Smurthwaite, a scholarship house, and was very involved in house activities. I was also involved in the student program of KNEA.

Outside of school I worked at Seven Dolors Child Care Center for three years. I served as a substitute in the preschool and kindergarten rooms for two years. The third year I was the assistant leader of the After School Program. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It was during this time that I realized that elementary education is the place for me.

In May 2009, I graduated from KSU with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education. After graduation, I moved back to Sabetha and got married. I now live in Morrill with my husband, Miles, and our very big black lab, Shadow. In my free time I love to read, bake, and spend time with family and friends.

This is my first year of teaching and I am very excited to get started. My motto is that everyone should learn something new each day. I intend to live up this motto this year. Children in my classroom can expect a year of learning and growing together each day. I hope that we will have fun along the way too.
