Hello!

My name is Elysia McGill and I am the Vocal Music Teacher at Sabetha Elementary School. I have been teaching in Sabetha since I was assigned here for my student teaching experience in January of 2003. I was hired by the district shortly before graduating college.

I was born and raised in Falls City, NE where I still currently reside with my husband, Matt and our 2 daughters, Madyson and Pyper. I graduated from Falls City High School in 1998 and went on to college at Peru State College.

While at Peru State College, I was involved in many activities such as the Madrigal Singers, Concert Choir and Student Senate. I also was very involved in the PSC MENC chapter where I held the offices of Treasurer, Vice-President and President. I graduated Cum Laude in the spring of 2003 with a degree of K-12 Vocal/Instrumental Music Education. In December of 2006 I graduated from Baker University where I received my Masters of Art in Education degree. At SES I currently lead a Professional Learning Community group and am a member of the PDC Council.

During my first year of teaching here in Sabetha I was nominated for the State of Kansas' Horizon Award that recognizes outstanding first year teachers. I am also a Level 1 Certified Orff Instructor. I am an involved teacher and I believe in a very hands on approach in my teaching. I invite you to come and see my class at any time!

In my spare time, I enjoy reading any kind of book, cooking and spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoying singing for our church, St. Paul's Lutheran in Falls City, where I serve as an assistant minister and Sunday School superintendent.
