Mr. Rick Schnacker
Principal
How long have you been working at Bern School?
I have worked at Bern School for the last 15 years as a Social Studies teacher, and presently building Principal and Head Football Coach. I graduated from Doane College, Crete, NE, with a degree in Physical Education and History. I received my Master's Degree in Administration from Doane College. This is my 27th year in education.
What are some of your favorite hobbies?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy watching and participating in many different sports. Youth and outdoor activities are also important to me.
What is the one thing that you like about working at Bern School?
Great students, staff, parents, and community support make Bern School a special place to work. The family-like atmosphere at Bern School is very enjoyable. I've built many relationships and memories over the past several years because of what Bern School offers.
What was your favorite subject/memory when you were in school?
I enjoyed Physical Education and Physics. I had a great coach and teacher who impacted me academically and personally. I credit their leadership in shaping my future. Surprisingly enough, it wasn't until college before I became very interested in History.
What advice could you give students today?
What choices young people make today directly impact their future. It is important to make good choices and face adversity in a positive manner. I encourage our young people to treat others with respect and be positive role-models. Enjoy the experiences and take advantage of opportunities that are presented at school and in life.
