Mrs. Howell's Bio

   Hello! My name is Heather Howell. I am the Kindergarten teacher at Bern Elementary School. In addition, I work as a part of the Instructional Support team. In many ways, the combination of duties is "the best of both worlds" for me professionally. My endorsement areas include both Elementary Education and Elementary Special Education, so I have the opportunity to work with a variety of types of students on a regular basis. 

    My husband, Mike, and I live in Falls City, NE with our three daughters, Kayelee, Kellyn, and Hadley. Despite being raised in Falls City, I have had the opportunity to live in the states of Minnesota, Michigan, Oregon, and Kansas. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, gardening, spending time with my family, and traveling whenever possible. 

   Kindergarten is an exciting milestone for students and their families. My goal is to approach the learning process as a team effort involving myself, students, and parents. One phrase you will hear repeated in Kindergarten is, "Work hard, try hard." I believe it is important for students to understand that their efforts matter. However, my efforts matter as well. Family members should expect to hear about, and possibly participate in, a variety of learning activities to help students feel successful in my classroom. A great deal of learning will be taking place along with a great deal of fun.
