National Holiday Riddles by WAC Second Graders

The second graders at Wetmore Academic Center studied national holidays as part of the "Our Country" unit. The students wrote a riddle for their national holiday and designed a flip-up poster to reveal a picture and the answer. Here are the riddles:

| My Riddle It is on the fourth Thursday in November. We are celebrating the Pilgrims and Indians eating together. We eat turkey. Do you need another clue? By: Jonathan and Monika (Thanksgiving) |
| My Riddle It is also called Decoration Day. It is a day set aside to honor Americans who died for our country. It is celebrated on the last Monday in May. Do you need another clue? By: Karley and Curtis (Memorial Day) |
| My Riddle It is our country's birthday. It was declared in 1776. It has lots of fireworks. Do you need another clue? By: Seth and Jade (Independence Day/Fourth of July) |
| My Riddle He was president during the Civil War. He grew to be over six feet tall. It's in the month of February. Do you need another clue? By: Ally ( Abraham Lincoln-President's Day) |
