| ACT | It is required by many colleges as an entrance test and determinant for scholarships | Most commonly taken in the junior year and early senior year |
| PSAT | Students must take it to enter the competition for national merit scholarship which will provide finances for college. It is also excellent practice for the SAT. | Juniors take it in October. |
| PLAN | Good free practice for the ACT and to provide career exploration information. | Sophomores will take it in October. |
| ASVAB | Students interested in the military should definitely participate. It also provides career exploration information. | September of sophomore, junior or senior year. |
| ITED | The Iowa Tests of Educational Development assess a student's basic academic skills in many fundamental areas. | October of both freshmen and seniors year. |
