School Closing Information

On certain days during the winter months, safety becomes a concern and school must be closed. I will attempt to make this decision to close school by the 6 PM or 10 PM newscast the day before, or by 5:30 AM that morning. The principals and staff are notified through calling trees. School closings are aired on the following:
Radio:
KNZA 103.9 FM
KMZA 92.1 FM
KTNC 1230 AM
WIBW 580 AM
Television:
WIBW 13 (CBS)
KSNT 27 (NBC)
KTKA 49 (ABC)
There are some mornings that just a few roads are not safe or cannot be used because of drifts. On these mornings snow routes are established and have been adopted by the board. These routes will be announced on the radio and television just as normal snow information is made to the public. If we have a snow route in the morning , we will try, if at all possible, to get students to their homes on the p.m. route. The snow routes give us an opportunity to provide education on a day when only a few are affected.
